Utilization:
Effective for the production of certain parasitoids Aphidius ervi and Aphelinus abdominalis through the banker plant method, i.e. grass plants on which there are aphids that live and reproduce only on these plants.
Ervibank's mode of action:
A population of parasitoids is formed in each clod of plants. It is very important to periodically add new clods to ensure constant production and in large quantities of parasitoids. Thanks to the large quantities of parasitoids that actively seek out aphids, the infestation of the latter remains low.
How to use:
Open the product immediately after receiving it, remove the root ball and place it on a 2/3 liter damp block of rock wool placed inside a "fuchsia pot" of 20 cm in diameter.
Place the pot in a spot exposed to direct sunlight and place a drip tube on the root ball to provide water and nutrients for a continuation. A small period of drought could cause Ervibank's death.
Make sure the pot has holes for draining excess water. Move the hose from the root ball to the rockwool when the roots begin to grow. To prevent the crop from being soiled by the sooty mold created by the honeydew secreted by the aphids, place a large plastic bowl under the Ervibank. If aphids are found before banker plants produce parasitoids, administer Ervipar (at least 0.5 per m²).
In case of chemical pesticides being used, remove the clods from the greenhouse for at least 24 hours and allocate them to a place where even pesticide steam cannot reach them.
If the pesticide is applied through the drip irrigation system, remove the drip pipes from the root balls for about 24 hours. Pesticide residues slowly disappear from recirculation systems. In these cases, it may be necessary to temporarily switch to an alternative way of watering.
