Mealybugs are a feared enemy, causing considerable damage to crops.
Both adult women and larvae feed on the plants, resulting in misshapen and yellowing leaves.
They also soil the plants with their honeydew secretions.
Flowers and fruits fall from the plants, resulting in very low yields.
Their protective waxy coating makes it difficult to control mealybugs with chemicals, particularly in dense crops where it is difficult to reach them. They can then survive chemical applications and resurface shortly thereafter.
A particularly effective natural enemy in the fight against cochineal is the predatory ladybug Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, available under the product name Cryptobug.
Adult ladybugs are very mobile and tend not to stay long in places where they are no longer needed.
The adults and larvae of the ladybug Cryptolaemus montrouzieri devour the cottony mealybugs.
In case of heavy infestation it can be used together with CITRIPAR KOPPERT Anagyrus pseudococci
The application of CRYPTOBUG is recommended when the cottony mealybugs have already formed colonies.
Apply the product in the evening (cool hours, temperature above 16°C) between the infected leaves.
The package can be stored for a maximum of 2 days after receipt, in the dark and at a temperature between 10 and 15°C.
