Larvanem koppert entomopathogenic nematodes useful for biological control of weevil and beetle larvae

WARNING:

  • Orders for this item placed during the week, (by noon on Thursday, date of payment) will be processed on Tuesday of the following week.

Larvanem 500 mln is formulated with entomopathogenic nematodes that penetrate pests and release symbiotic bacteria within their body cavities. These bacteria convert host tissue into a nutrient resource, developing and reproducing within it and eliminating the parasite within hours or days of infection.

We recommend using LARVANEM Nematodes KOPPERT during the following periods:

March - April September - October

Larvanem is effective for biological control of the following pests:

Coleoptera - Weevil larvae

  • Oziorhynchus (Otiorhynchus sulcatus and other species of Otiorhynchus spp.)
  • Amphimallon majale
  • Garden beetle (Phyllopertha horticola and Phyllophaga spp.)
  • Amphimallon solstitialis, Hoplia philantus
  • Popillia japonica, Exomala orientalis, Autoserica castanea
  • Anomala dubia
  • Serica brunnea, Hoplia spp., beetles of the genus Aphodius spp. and young larvae of Melolontha melolontha, Amphimallon aestivus and Anoxia villosa

Chrysomelidae

  • Larvae of altica (Phyllotreta spp.)

Lepidoptera

  • Larvae of Korscheltellus lupulina

Because the beetle (otiorrhynchus) is in plants at the larval stage during these months and the soil has the right moisture and temperature, nematodes look for otiorrhynchus larvae in the soil to feed and reproduce, quickly exterminating the population.

How to use Larvanem?

Product Preparation

  1. Bring to Room Temperature: Leave the sachets out of the package for about 30 minutes at room temperature before use.
  2. Dissolving Content: Pour the contents of each sachet into a bucket with at least 2 liters of water (ideal temperature: 15-20 °C/59-68 °F).
  3. Stirringand So aking: Stir vigorously and let soak for 5 minutes, then stir again.
  4. Nebulizer Preparation: Pour the contents of the bucket into the nebulizer tank, filling it halfway, unless you are mixing with a compatible product.
  5. Continuous Agitation: Keep the mixture moving in the tank, such as using a recirculating pump.
  6. Completing the Reservoir: Fill the sprayer with the required amount of water. If you are mixing with another compatible product, add it only after the tank is completely filled.
  7. ImmediateApplication: Use the prepared solution immediately for best results.

Methods of Application

Nematodes can be distributed with a variety of tools, including watering cans, air sprayers, irrigation systems, knapsack sprayers or vehicle-mounted sprayers.

  1. Prevention of Clogging: Remove all filters, especially those with mesh sizes less than 0.3 mm (50 mesh).
  2. Pressure and Nozzles: Use a maximum pressure of 20 bar/290 psi and a nozzle opening of at least 0.5 mm (500 microns - 35 mesh). Prefer high-flow conical nozzles.
  3. Continuous Stirring: Be sure to stir the solution continuously to prevent nematodes from settling to the bottom of the tank.
  4. Ideal Conditions: The water temperature in the tank should not exceed 25 °C/77 °F, with a pH between 4 and 8. Evenly distribute the solution over the soil.

Application Through Irrigation Systems

Systems with pressure compensation are recommended. Alternatively, opt for spraying or root wetting. For injection via Dosatron/Venturi systems, consult your local representative for specific guidance. Apply the solution immediately after preparation and do not store mixtures.

Recommended Dosage

  • Soil Applications: Typical dosage of 250,000-500,000 nematodes per m².
  • Leaf Applications: Dosage between 1 and 3 million nematodes per liter.

Always consult the product label for further details.

Application Timing

The best time for application depends on the pest species and environmental conditions (humidity, temperature). For an optimal strategy, contact a consultant KOPPERT or an authorized distributor.

Ideal Environmental Conditions

  • Temperature: Steinernema carpocapsae is effective between 14-34 °C/57-93 °F, with optimal performance between 19-31 °C/66-88 °F.
  • Avoid Extreme Conditions: Temperatures below 5 °C/41 °F or above 35 °C/95 °F can be lethal.
  • UV Protection: Avoid direct use in sunlight, as nematodes are sensitive to UV light.
  • Soil Mo isture: Maintain a high moisture level for several days after application by irrigating the crop before and after treatment.

Foliar Application

For foliar applications, spray Larvanem when relative humidity is above 75 percent for several hours after treatment. It may be helpful to add an additive or anti-drying/humectant. Consult your representative KOPPERT for more information. Spray preferably in the evening hours or, in some cases, in the morning to ensure optimal temperature and humidity conditions.

Compatibility and Safety

  • Side Effects: Pesticides can directly or indirectly affect organic products.
  • Safe Mixing: Always add nematodes to the tank completely filled with the compatible product.
  • Safety for Beneficiaries: The product is generally safe for most beneficial mites and insects, but may affect some organisms in direct contact.

larvanem oziorrinco nematodi heterorhabditis bacteriophora koppert

Nematodes can infest a wide range of harmful insects. There are several species and strains, each with varying degrees of effectiveness.

The nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophora is used for control of oziorrhynchus. After application, the nematodes seek out their prey by penetrating through the mouth, anus or respiratory openings.

Once inside, the nematodes feed on the host's contents and release specific bacteria, which spread inside the insect, turning the tissue into a substance that the nematodes can easily assimilate. The insect dies within a few days.

Infected insects turn light brown, acquiring a slimy, dehydrated texture.

Nematode population growth within the host depends on two main factors: the number of infectious nematodes penetrating the insect and the size of the host itself. Hermaphrodites can lay up to 200 eggs. The female may lay eggs inside the host or, when food is scarce, the eggs will develop inside the nematode.

From the viable eggs, larvae will hatch and grow rapidly. Several thousand nematodes may eventually emerge from a large larva and immediately begin searching for new prey.

Question:

buongiorno, stavo cercando un prodotto biologico da poter usare contro i maggiolini nel terreno dei limoni e qualcosa sempre per i limoni contro gli afidi. grazie mille

Answer:

Buongiorno Germana,

Question:

Answer:

Buongiorno Patrik,

Cordiali saluti,
Lo staff tecnico di perfarelalbero.it
